In 2008 our lives changed forever. Unbeknown to us, our wonderful boys were both being diagnosed at Addenbrookes Hospital with Aplastic Anaemia. This is a rare and potentially fatal disease where the body's bone marrow stops working and stops producing the vital cells that keep you alive. The boys endured hundreds of hospital visits, blood and platelet transfusions .. between them they have had over 600 blood tests in 3 years. It has been a hard and sometimes soul destroying journey, but the boys have been positive throughout the whole journey. Our families met in early 2009 and we have travelled this horrible journey together, with Alex and Jack being able to support each other throughout. Last year, they both were sent to Bristol Children's Hospital where they endured Bone Marrow Transplants, which have given them both an optimistic future.
Whilst they were in hospital, they both received treats from a wonderful lady, Maria Hanson, who runs Me and Dee charity, who offer treats to create special moments and memories when time is precious. Each treat costs no more than £100 and is a wonderful way of showing people that someone cares. Maria doesn't just provide the treat, she becomes involved in the children's lives and with Alex and Jack, she will be in their lives forever.
They are abseiling down the Maternity Block at Ipswich Hospital on Sunday 10th July and we would be really grateful for any support that you could give us for this amazing charity.
This has been a very hard 3 years for all of us... but it is people like Maria who make it that little bit easier...please donate anything you can.. in the words of Tescos.. "every penny counts!"
And from Helen and I... well.. sometimes there simply are no words xxx
And.. as a PS..... THEY DID IT..... TWO AMAZING BOYS RAISING MONEY TO HELP OTHERS WHO ARE ARE IN THEIR SITUATION... SO SO PROUD OF BOTH OF THEM.. AND TO EVERYONE WHO SPONSORED AND SUPPORTED THEM...
