Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well this is it! I've hit my forties and need to show the world I am still fit and able to achieve something worthwhile! So when Becky said she wanted to do something to remember her dear brother Daniel, who died tragically last year of cancer, I said yes. Daniel was only 39 and he had been helped by MacMillan Cancer Support, so it seemed only right to Becky that we should walk 39 miles in his memory and raise funds for the charity in the process!

Then began our training! Three times a week we are out walking. Every Sunday, we meet up to do a long walk together. We are up to thirty miles in one go now, so we still need to keep training to reach our target! Despite the odd blister, shoe lost in mud, farm gates to hurdle and mad cows, we both feel really brilliant! We plan to do the 39 mile walk on July 16th. We have a great team volunteering to undertake this challenge!

WE DID IT!! We had a fantastic walk, along the Brecon Canal, starting 6.30am and finishing at 10pm. Rain was a bit unkind in the morning but we got through it! Loads of support from friends and family. A few aching muscles and a couple of blisters but what a fantastic atmosphere! Everyone has been so lovely. THANK YOU for your support.

The walking has made us feel fit and reinvigorated - we both want to carry on walking now we've started. We're even starting to plan our next challenge! Follow my progress on: www.twitter.com/EleanorWD39
