Sky Diving in Cape Town · 24 November 2013

The Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, Cape Town, is one of Africa's first specialist paediatric Hospital. We make sure that Africa's sickest children have the access to high quality healthcare they need. Together we can give the Hospital's children a second chance at childhood.

Story

Okay Guys, so I know it's a bit short notice, but on Sunday 24th November I will be ending mystay in South Africa by Skydiving over Cape Town and I thought why not make it not only an amazing experience for myself but also the last thing I do while here for the charity I've been working with.

Over the past seven weeks I've been working with The Friends of Children's Hospital association as as a 'play volunteer'. FOCHA is an organisation based at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital here in Cape Town who try to make the lives of patients and their families a bit easier during their stay in hospital. As a play volunteer I go to the wards and clinics with toys for the children to play with and spend time with them colouring in, doing puzzles, performing puppet shows or just having a chat, whatever it takes to make their time there a little less boring and stressful and a little bit more enjoyable. The Friends also provide patients families with clothes, toiletries and cash donations if they are unable to go home or cannot afford to travel to and from the hospital very often, they also provide parents with two meals/snacks a day in a separate room where they can go to chill and get a bit of time off the wards while we are spending time with the children.

However more recently funds and donations have been dwindling and The Friends of Children's Hospital association would really appreciate more donations in order to afford to keep supplying meals, toiletries and travel funds. So I figured that this is the perfect opportunity for me to do what I can do to help them!!

Any donations at all no matter how small would be greatly appreciated both from myself and the Friends at the hospital!
