On Saturday 26th September along with some of my colleagues from the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre I will be abseiling 175 foot down one of Bristol's tallest buildings and helping to raise money for Above and Beyond's CaRE Appeal.

 

With 1 in 3 people being diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lifetime, it is a disease which affects nearly all families. The Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) opened in 1971 and cares for over 6,500 individuals diagnosed with cancer every year, with up to 1,000 visitors passing through the Centre each day. When talking to patients, we hear many fantastic things about the support and advice offered by the staff, but something that everyone agrees on is that the building needs to reflect the outstanding care and dedicated people who work there. 

Above & Beyond’s CaRE Appeal has pledged £1.6 million to transform the patient and visitor experience at the BHOC. Donations to the centre over the years means that we have already secured £1.1 million of support, but we need to raise the remaining £500,00 by autumn 2010 to make the project a reality. This is a huge undertaking and we need your help to achieve our goal.
