Story
Thank you for visiting our page! We are a group of girls from Hasmonean High School and we are raising money for Wings of Hope Charity. Wings of Hope provide free education for orphaned and impoverished children in India and Malawi.
Our taget is 2,779 pounds as in hebrew the gematria (value of hebrew letters) for the phrase "change an education, change a life" adds up to 2,779. Change an education change a life is our moto as we strongly believe that through providing and improving these impoverished childrens lives, we will enevitably change their future for them and their families.
In India, Wings of Hope help support a school in Southern India (Chennai). The school there educates children from the age of three onwards. With help from Wings of Hope, the teachers are able to provide a good grounding of education as well as emphasising the idea that through education and motivation to learn comes success. The students here mainly learn Science, English, Mathematics and Hindi.
In Malawi, Wings of Hope help fund the House of Hope. The House of Hope provides support for children from the ages of 3 to 20, who have lost their parents due to AIDS. The house also provides schooling for children aged 11 - 20, after school care and programs educating the children in HIV/AIDS.
Thankfully the six of us have been fortunate enough to have benefitted from a good education throughout our lives so far. From this we all completely understand the importance of helping these children benefit from one too!
In order to raise money and awareness for this wonderful cause we have to date (10th January) done the following:
Been to the House of Lords and Commons and interviewed Glenda Jackson MP and former actress, Mathew Offord MPp for the constituency of our school and Lord Boateng the former High Commissioner to South Africa. This was in order to raise awareness.
After the interviews, we got in contact with the Hendon and Finchley Times and this week (19th Jan) an article was written on our visit to Parliament. To read this article please click the link below:
