Hello!

 

My name is Holly and I am an ex racing greyhound.

I was quite a good racer for a few years, but then age caught up with me as did all of the other dogs, so I had to retire.

My trainer was not kind to us greyhounds and I had to live outside in a shed, even in winter.  He didn’t feed me very well and so I don’t have many teeth anymore and I have a few scars on me, like I say he was mean to us.  As I could no longer make my trainer money, he didn’t want me anymore!

But I was lucky and he left me with the Retired Greyhound Trust. They are a wonderful charity who rescue and find homes for thousands of ex racing greyhounds every year.

That’s when things started to change for me.  My new mummy and daddy saw me one day in my kennel and fell in love with me (Well their only human!)  They took me home and now I have my own bed, blankets, toys, warm coats and as many treats, cuddles and walks as I want!

But some of my friends are not so lucky!

So I am taking part in the Great North Dog Walk in South Shields on June 9 2013, to raise money for the Retired Greyhound Trust, so more of my friends can have their happy ever after, just like me.
