Sheffield Poem-a-thon for Refugees and Asylum Seekers · 2 April 2016

The relief of those who are seeking refuge and are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. The advancement of the education of the public, and organisations (statutory and voluntary) to assist the inclusion of such inhabitants into the wider community

Story

Around 50  poets from across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire will take part in a marathon poetry reading between 10-6 on Saturday 2nd April.  Funds raised by our event, through sponsorship and donations, will go to ASSIST - a charity in Sheffield which supports destitute asylum seekers.  Other money raised through sales at the event will go to refugees stranded in Northern France.

This free event will take place at The Art House S1 4HJ in Sheffield city centre (off Division Street). There will be a tombola stall with great prizes plus tea, coffee, cake etc.  Please support our event by sponsoring me (or one of the other poets) and joining us on the day if you can.  Thank you.
