The great news is that we have now finished the walk!!!

We walked the last leg in beautiful autumn sunshine, starting at Tring Station and finishing 15 miles later at King's Langley, where we started back in January. In total we have covered 201 miles (including a few extra miles getting to and from railway stations and car parks) and walked for 90 hours.

Since I first heard about the 194-mile Hertfordshire Way I have been keen to attempt to walk it all. The circular route around the County is divided into 16 legs and my group has walked the legs on 16 separate days between January and November.

I have enjoyed discovering more about the County where I grew up and where I have lived for much of my life. We have walked through surprisingly beautiful and tranquil countryside, even within 15 miles of central London.

CPRE is a cause close to my heart. Since 1926 is has campaigned to protect England's precious countryside. The need for the campaign in Hertfordshire is as great as ever, and CPRE needs funds especially to influence planning decisions and policy, and lobby many different organisations and individuals whose decisions and actions affect the countyside.

While I am Chairman of CPRE Hertfordshire I am doing all I can to improve our finances and raise money: this walk is part of my efforts. I feel lucky to have the chance to raise money while also enjoying myself and doing something healthy! My fellow walkers have been great company too.
