Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I'm running for CRISIS, a fantastic charity that helps single homeless people. I'm planning three main events this year leading up to the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October and I'm aiming to improve my PBs in each.  They are: The Norton 9 on March 4, The Sheffield Half Marathon on May 27, and the Taupont 10k in Brittany on July 27.

I'll be inviting friends to my 65th birthday tea (and wine) party in September in aid of my chosen charity too.

I'm running some of these events with my three sons ( not actually with - I'm a bit behind!) and over the past two years we've raised more than £1300.

UPDATE

Rain, wind and SLEET for the Norton 9.  But I think those conditions makes you run faster as I came in 4 minutes faster than last year.

May 27th. Well what a contrast.  We'd trained in the cold weather and then suddenly a heatwave for the Sheffield Half Marathon.  Feeling very nervous about how the race would go we set off from Don Valley Stadium.  We all finished and to my great surprise and delight I did get a new PB and came in just under two and half hours - about 6 minutes faster than last year.

Next race is the Graves Park 10k on July 1st.  I'm doing this instead of the race in Brittany as I can't make the dates work now.

July 1st - Run in the Park 10k in Graves Park.  Summer yes? We lined up SHIVERING in the cold. A good run though through park, boggy woodland and fields with rare breeds of cattle, sheep and pigs.  Not a PB race but I did improve on last year's time by about 3 minutes despite a rather heavy but fun evening the night before.

Next race is the Endcliffe Park 10.10.10 running with sons and grand-daughter for the first time.  This year she completed the Race for Life 5k, her first ever run, and I think she's got the bug.

The 10.10.10 went well. An 'interesting' route! Two laps clambering up muddy grassy steep inlcines and picking our way through tree roots along narrow woodland paths.  A very lovely part of Sheffield.

At last the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 7!  I've been working towards this run and the route must be one of the best in the world.  We ran around Hyde Park, past Big Ben, great views of Westminster, across Waterloo Bridge, alongside the Thames, up the Mall and saw all the most wonderful sights. The run is beautifully flat for a Sheffield runner but I did find the run very tough - just not at my brightest..  However, I got a PB - almost five minutes faster than the Sheffield Half and well under the magic two and half hours - 2hrs 25 mins.

Many, many thanks for the support - it's been fantastic and as well as helping the beneficiaries of CRISIS it really keeps me motivated.

Signing off now - and havinga rest from running for three weeks!

Liz
