The Consortium for Street Children (CSC) is the leading international member-based network dedicated to advocating, promoting and campaigning for the rights of street-involved children. We are committed to creating a better and sustainable future for some of the most disadvantaged and stigmatised children by working together to inform and inspire research and action that influences policy and best practice worldwide.

Story

Hey everyone!!!!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to come visit my page!

So I'm running the marathon for the Consortium for Street Children! These people do amazing work campaigning for children's rights across the world, and when I was asked to step in to run only a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was an incredible opportunity.

Their work includes a campaign to stop violence against street children- this is the sort of horrific abuse that they are working to prevent:

“The police treat us badly. They hit us. Not for any particular reason. . . just because they feel like it. They’ve hit me lots of times. They hit with their rifles, or with sticks, on our backs and stomachs.  And sometimes they just punch us in the stomach with their hands.  They also take our paint thinner and pour it over our heads.  They’ve done that to me five times.  It’s awful, it hurts really bad.  It gets in your eyes and burns; for half an hour you can’t see anything.” (15 year old Guatemalan boy)

You can read more about the work they're doing on their website http://www.streetchildren.org.uk/default.asp

Last minute notwithstanding I'm on target with the training and I'd be honoured if you could spare even a little bit to sponsor me and help support them in their work. Thank you!
