Story
Hello Everyone
The Karen Woo Foundation is a grant-giving Charity, focusing on supporting projects in Afghanistan which provide healthcare to communities which have little or no access to even basic medical provision.
Much of the health infrastructure in Afghanistan has been destroyed and many people in remote villages have little or no access to health care. Afghanistan has some of the highest maternal and child mortality rates in the world with one woman dying in childbirth every 28 minutes and 1 in 5 children dying before the age of 5. It was Dr Karen Woo's mission to bring medical care to those who need it most in Afghanistan, while also promoting the basic rights of Afghan women.
Inspired by the passion and courage of Karen, who was tragically killed whilst delivering aid to a remote region of northern Afghanistan, the Foundation aims to continue her legacy with your support and compassion.
- to support the general provision of healthcare to people in Afghanistan.
- to provide medical supplies to healthcare providers in Afghanistan, particularly in rural and remote areas.
- to provide healthcare education to Afghan people.
- to promote awareness of the healthcare needs of women and children in Afghanistan.
I will be training hard over the next few months to prepare myself for the 30 mile bike ride in Newcastle on the 30th June. Please show me your support and donate to this cause so they can continue their good work. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much
