Ella's Run the Ring 4

Run the Ring 4 · 20 September 2020
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
Run the Ring is back for the 4th time to raise money and awareness for Papyrus (Prevention of Young Suicide).
Run the Ring is a group of VW enthusiasts from all walks of life that combine our love for all things VW with a passion for raising money for good causes.
Once a year around a thousand of us gather together with our partners and families for our ‘Run the Ring’ event – one lap of 117 miles on the M25 in our VW cars, vans and campers and raise money for a chosen charity at the same time.
The idea of ‘Run the Ring’ was the brainchild of our founder John Emberton back in 2016. After posting the idea on Facebook (partly as a joke) John was overwhelmed by the response and over 400 VWs completed the first 117-mile lap of the M25 and raised £10k for Teenage Cancer Trust.
We repeated the feat in 2017 – this time with 650 VW cars, vans and campers. Together with other events and activities we handed over a cheque for just under £26K to another great cause, Scotty’s Little Soldiers who support children who have lost a parent in the armed forces. As a result we were named by the charity as their Fundraising Team of the Year!
2020 returns to the main event and a cause close to my heart.
