Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hannah Francis was 18 when she died just before the Olympic Games 2016. She had osteosarcoma and was diagnosed just 15 months earlier. She was a promising young event rider with, potentially, a great career ahead of her representing her country. She was brave, irrepressible and determined to have an impact. She set up the Willberry Wonder Pony charity.

Years ago, I worked in medical research in the field of bone disorders so I followed Hannah's story closely. .

Jumping a horse scares me out of my skin. For those that don't know, a BE80 is an event combining dressage, showjumping up to 85cm and galloping through hills, fields and water jumping obstacles up to 80cm high and 1.25m wide. Your horse has to be brave and so do you.

In doing this challenge, I can raise money for a cause I really care about and show just a little of the bravery which Hannah demonstrated.

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
