Batten disease is a group of rare, progressive neurodegenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children & adults worldwide. The BDFA's Vision is to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families funding research into a potential cure.

Story

As many of you know Laura was diagnosed January 2009 with one of the worst diseases I have ever come across, Juvenile Batten Disease. Two years on we are still struggling every day with the awful realities of having Battens Disease in our family.

During this time we have been extremely grateful for the information, help, advice and understanding offered us by a charity called the Battens Disease Family Association. This charity not only offers support to affected families, but has also funded medical research projects and so offer us hope that a cure will be found.

David & I are keen to support the BDFA. We hope that we can raise funds and awareness through this JustGiving page. Happily, we all completed the BDFA Sponsored Walk in Nottingham on Saturday 21st May. We were really delighted that Laura managed the whole 5 miles! Thank you to everyone who supported us x

Thank you so very much for taking the time to look at our JustGiving page.

Warm regards from David, Ellen, Thomas & Laura x

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
