<p>Thank you for visiting my page. I expect all of you reading this already know my family’s story but if you wanted a reminder of why it is still important to donate to the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT), read on. </p>

<p>My son Euan has just turned two. For over a year we have had to fly down to Birmingham once a month to get specialist care at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital for the childhood cancer Retinoblastoma. During these visits he has to endure a general anaesthetic delivered by gas and laser and other local treatment on the eye. Last year he had 6 rounds of chemotherapy and in the beginning of May 2011 he will have his first radioactive plaque fitted to his eye. On-going treatment is likely to last a few more years.</p>

<p>Retinoblastoma is a long haul for the children suffering from it and their families. CHECT supports families like ours and researches the causes and effects of Rb.</p>

<p>On Sunday 8 May I completed the Glasgow women’s 10K for CHECT in 1hr 24 minutes. It has been a huge personal challenge for me with training interspersed with work, hospital visits and general family life, but great feeling to have completed it (despite the rain!) and I am etternally grateful to everyone for such amazing support. All your contributions are gratefully received.</p>

<p>We are still fundraising, as Euan's auntie Lorna is running the Manchester 10k on Sunday 15 May. Please give whatever you can no matter how small.</p>
