On the 19 May 2012 I will be taking part in a 12 ½ hour Hockeython to help raise funds for Help for Heroes and Guildford Hockey Club.  

Help for Heroes raises money to support members of the Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of their country. We ask our supporters to ‘do their bit’ to show these extraordinary young men and women that they are cared for by us. For more information visit http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk.

The Hockeython will include as many members of GHC as possible. There will be coaching clinics for the colts, various inter-club matches and many other activities.   Two matches will also take place between the Combined Services and our men’s and ladies’ 1 XIs. I am hoping that you would be kind enough to donate through just giving to help raise funds for this very worthwhile cause.

The Hockeython will also include many other fundraising activities run by members of GHC so please feel free to come along on the day, have some fun and get involved.

For the record although the schedule for the day is not yet finalised, the current schedule has me playing in a game at 7.30am - on a Saturday!!  Now granted, I am a hockey geek through and through, but I refuse to even think about what time I will have to get up at to play in this game...it will be a long day!  But all in a good cause of course.
