A very big thank you for sponsoring me on my coast to coast adventure. Dad and I are very grateful for your kind generosity.
Despite Scotland’s reputation for unpredictable weather I was pretty lucky. The waterproof coat only came out for a couple of quick showers and gladly it wasn’t as hot as further south, which saved me boiling my head on the longer climbs. Things turned a bit windy from Thursday onwards which added to the challenge at times. It’s never good to have to pedal downhill!!
Dad and Anne did a magnificent job looking after me with good grub and a comfy bed. Dad and I managed to co-ordinated quite well with pick up’s and gladly I was never too far away from my eta at the end of each day. Day one was our only hiccup when an accident closed the road between Fort William and Fort Augustus, forcing Dad and Anne to drive a 240 mile round trip, via Inverness to come and get me. Not a good start to the week!
Thankfully the legs and lungs held out well. The hours spent in the gym and in the hills before hand certainly paid off. My bike didn’t miss a beat, not even a flat tyre. It’s now having a well earned rest in the shed.
Apart from a couple of navigational wobbles and a bit of bog snorkeling the ride was without incident and I was rewarded with some fantastic scenery and wildlife spotting along the way.
Thank you once again, Ellie
