Special offer: Give £25+ and I'll write your name in the sand and send you a pic.
Sandblast work with Saharawi refugees. They're in camps in Algeria, but they'd rather be at home in Western Sahara. They have to live off UN aid. They have been for a long time. Sandblast does artivism, music and education with the communites, helping them express a rich culture and speak out for freedom through creative nonviolence. That's what the money will go to. So they're hosting this amazing run... a marathon. My first. In the Sahara. Which is a desert. For context, I'm from a market town in Shropshire and I live in London, which are both obviously their own kind of wilderness.
My friend Beccy already did the marathon in 2017, so I assume it's pretty easy, and I'm apparently quite competitive. By visiting I also want to show some solidarity, albeit post-marathon I will feel less than solid. I hope I'll have a chance to join in some workshops with Saharawi children and young people while I'm there.
Beccy's living and working there right now, which is part of how I know this will be awesome and worthwhile.
Thanks for looking at me page. Give what you can :) £50+ and I'll write your name in the sand in Arabic.
