<p>Hi guys,</p> <p>This year I'll be running a 10km for ReachOut! a mentoring charity that helps children from deprived backgrounds. It's a really great cause and is working here in the UK, so please give generously and contribute what you can to help those who want to learn.</p> <p style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';">"ReachOut! was founded in Manchester in 1994 with a few determined volunteer mentors and mentees. Right from the start we have been committed to enabling young people to be the best they can be through mentoring. <span style="font-size: smaller;"><a href="http://www.reachoutuk.org/HTML/about_ushistory.html" target="_blank">More history</a></span><a href="http://www.reachoutuk.org/HTML/about_ushistory.html">.</a></p> <p style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';">Today, hundreds of children and young people in Manchester, London, and Glasgow enjoy one-on-one mentoring sessions that directly contribute to their ongoing personal and academic development.</p> <p style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';">We recruit, train and support mentors on various projects throughout Manchester. Our mentors, who are mostly from local universities, volunteer in several primary and secondary schools.</p> <p style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';">By either working one-on-one or in supportive groups, our mentors seek to support the development of mentees&rsquo; character and competency in line with our unique framework of development.</p> <p style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';">Over the course of an academic year our mentees are supported on a path of academic and personal growth in line with their individual plans. Additionally, our volunteers receive full training and support throughout the year that sustains their personal and skills development."</p>
