Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Those of you that know me well will know that i'm not exactly a big fan of exercise and that apart from occasionally kicking a football around the most exercise I get is running for the train (and even then I embarrassingly have to stop half way up the escalator because the thought of running the whole way is just too much!).
Well, the opportunity to run 5k dressed in a Santa costume in the freezing cold around Greenwich Park for a great cause seemed like the ideal time to change my ways and get a bit fitter.
I'm doing the Santa Fun Run for IntoUniversity, an educational charity that works with young people from disadvantaged areas in London.
Did you know that young people from disadvantaged areas are 4 times less likely to get good GCSEs than those from more well-off areas- and 6 times less likely to go to university? Into University aims to tackle this disaparity through local learning centres across London that provide after- school support, mentoring, careers and UCAS help, specially designed aspirational days and weeks and pastoral support. IntoUniversity helped just over 4000 young people last year and continues to contribute in a large and meaningful way to thousands of young people across London.
Please sponsor me to run 5k in a Santa costume (probably the first time I have run more than 500 metres since I was about 16) and support this great cause at the same time.
