Story
UPDATE ...... - Yeeeesssss!!! We did it... we climbed the Miners track up Mount Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales , some 3500 feet up ... and oh my days !! ...how hard was this??? The most daunting part was the ascent up the zig zag to the ridge where we were clambering up the rocks, hands and feet through the mist and rain ... There were stages when I thought I couldn't go any further ... but just ...did. We went through all weathers, sunshine rain, mist, with amazing views ... then up into the clouds where visibility was about 3 metres and you couldn't actually see the top so didn't know how far we had to go !!!
One thing I was glad of was being shrouded in clouds on the the summit because you couldn't see a thing ... (yes .. I'm not good at heights) and I probably would have freaked!!
So yes ... crazy mother (Michelle), action man (Nick) and Miss Bromley drove 300 miles , climbed a mountain, drove 300 miles back. (well Nick did!) ... In aid of Help for Heroes ....A truly amazing experience !! ..... I could never have done it without them :o)
A massive thank you to all who have donated and all who are about to !!! :o) xxx
Also, very importantly, to 'Cotswold' for supplying me with my walking boots!!
ORIGINAL NARRATIVE BELOW:
So , .... I have gone completely mad and decided to climb Mount Snowdon to raise money for Help for Heroes charity, even though I have never done anything like this before :-) This will be a huge challenge !!!
The sponsored hike will take place on September 11th 2010 and my crazy mother (Michelle) and her partner Nick have volunteered to join me on the trek!
As you are probably aware by now, I am currently the Official Miss Bromley and represented Kent in the Miss England semi-finals, so am planning to use this title to generate as much publicity and raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause.
Thank you for visiting my page .... and please dig deep and give generously ... it really is appreciated not only by myself but by all our brave servicemen and women who have made such enormous sacrifices in their line of duty and are now being helped by the charity!!! :-)
Update* Thank you very much to everyone that has donated and shown their support so far it soooo greatly appreciated.!!! The Snowdon climb up the "Miners Track" is now only 4 days away and at present the forecast is rain. :o( … groan!
But ….It is now more important than ever that we all support this outstanding charity. Don’t know how many of you saw the report regarding the leak of a confidential document to the press over the weekend (Sunday Times) stating that the MOD plan to oust all soldiers unfit for action from the armed forces? …This includes over 200 amputees and 1,500 wounded soldiers from both the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. There are more casualties arriving back home on a daily basis, some with horrific injuries, whose lives will be changed forever. These brave servicemen and women are now to be left in the care of Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion. Help for Heroes are planning on building four personal recovery units around the country, due to open next year and will cost around £4m a year in running costs….. You can help ……… You can show your support ….please give as much as you can, it all adds up!!!!!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
