Leeds University Union Swimming and Waterpolo Society is raising money for War Child
Story
I am completing the National Three Peaks Challenge in June 2017 with Leeds University Raise And Give (RAG) Society in aid of the charity War Child.
For those unaware, this well-known UK mountaineering challenge involves climbing the highest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales in under 24 hours. That means I'll be scaling the 1345m Ben Nevis followed by 978m Scafell Pike and then finally 1085m Mount Snowdon crammed into one of the longest days of my life.
Whilst I am a keen swimmer and have a good base level of fitness, this is definitely going to be a huge challenge. However, I WILL complete it (because I am extremely determined and I am a RAG group leader so will be required to map read for the team)!! Therefore I can promise that all donations to my chosen charity won't be going to waste.
War Child works at supporting children in war-torn areas across the world. They do so by keeping children safe during conflict as well as educating them and equipping them with the essential skills for a promising future. Whilst my 24 hour challenge will be tough, to say the least, I doubt it can compare to spending 24 hours as a child surrounded by war.
