Student Climb Kili for Kids 2010 · 31 July 2010 ·

COCO’s purpose is to provide education to create the opportunity for children to break the cycle of poverty. We are currently working with communities in remote areas of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Our vision is a world where every child, everywhere has access to quality education.

Story

Hi! Firstly, thanks for visiting my page! My name is Emily, I'm 19 and a second year Ancient, Medieval and Modern History student at Durham University.  In June 2010 I, along with 2 of my other friends, am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with the charity CoCo, a North East University charity founded by former Olympic athlete Steve Cram.  CoCo funds primarily children's projects in developing countries, primarily Africa.

Check it out at the CoCo website www.coco.org.uk (apologies for lack of link)

Being a student myself I've come to realize the importance of education and feel this is one of the problems that should be addressed and CoCo does this.  Furthermore,  climbing Mount Kilimanjaro I'm sure will be a life-changing experience for all involved and as I plan to volunteer afterwards I'm really looking to seeing just what the generous donations can do for others less fortunate.

As for me I'm a pretty standard student and although training is underway I'm sure it will still be quite the challenge- but one I'm really looking forward to!
