Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You may think Lisa and I are just a little mad wanting to jump out of an aeroplane at 12,000 feet in the air? Well, you're probably right! However, we are doing it for a FANTASTIC cause 'Hearing Dogs for Deaf People' (HDDP).
On the 8th September Lisa and I will make the jump, free-falling for 30-40 seconds (which will probably feel like a lifetime), before our instructor opens our parachute. Oh, and we get to wear some sexy jump suits!
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a registered charity that selects and trains dogs to respond to specific sounds. Hearing dogs alert people by touch, using a paw to gain attention and then lead them back to the sound source. For sounds such as a smoke alarm and fire alarm the dogs will lay down to indicate danger. The money that we raise will go towards training a puppy, which includes 18 months of intense training and dedicated time.
The charity relies totally on the generosity of people, companies and organisations to fund its work. There are approm. 650,000 severely or profoundly deaf people in the UK who could benefit from a hearing dog. Since the charity was founded in 1982 it has trained around 1,500 hearing dogs and placed them with deaf recipients around the country. Please take a look at their website for more information www.hearingdogs.org.uk .
So please dig deep and donate now.
