Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am writing to you to ask if you would be happy to support me. This summer I am going to work on a 10 day programme working with AIDS and Malaria orphans for a charity called Footsteps which my Dad is involved with - www.footstepsuk.org
I will be travelling to a small village called Magunga in . I am really looking forward to it as I know I will learn so much from the experience. I’m sure it will be very eye opening for me because as a privileged child I have never known anything even similar to the way these children have grown up. I always remember as a child, when I didn’t want to finish my food, being told to think of the starving people in . I know I can’t change the food situation or the poverty in but I hope in some small way I can bring the children I will be working with some fun, enjoyment and happiness. Hopefully I will also be able to pass on some of my own life skills to them and I have no doubt I will learn a huge amount from them. It will be amazing to see how children younger then me cope when they have to step in and parent their own siblings, and cousins, as well as orphans of other families, when they have lost their parents to HIV AIDs or Malaria. I would love to be able to give the orphans the happiness anyone in a situation like theirs deserves.I am also really looking forward to meeting and getting to know Beryl who is a 13 year old orphan who Ben Lizi and I have ‘adopted’ allowing her to be provided with the necessities she wouldn’t otherwise get.
On the programme I will be doing the following activities:1. Working with the children to create murals in the classrooms
2. Taking a selection of photos to be made into cards/ Christmas cards which I can then sell and give the profit to the charity.3. Helping the children bake cakes in solar ovens.
4. The programme is also rebuilding a primary school in a new village and I will be involved in helping with that for some of the time.I am going to be competing in the Hever Castle Triathlon on the 27 of September in order to try and raise funds. I would really appreciate any support you feel able to offer, however, I do understand that it is a bad time to be asking for sponsorship so don’t worry if you feel you can’t donate at the moment.
I will keep you all up to date on how my trip went and share some of my pictures with you. I will also let you know how my triathlon goes!Thank you for any support you can give.
