Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

With just over two weeks to go until the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday 16th October, myself, my boyfriend Joe, my friend Kate and my dad Martin have decided to continue fundraising for Brain Tumour Research. As many of you already know, it's a charity we hold close to our hearts and anything you can donate towards it would be really appreciated.

On 25th November 2015, after hearing the devastating news that this courageous young boy had lost his life to the disease, we felt that we wanted to do something to help continue his fundraising. Over the 17 months that Finlay fought the disease, he raised an incredible £100,000.00 for Brain Tumour Research and The Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity. His selfless journey has left a lasting legacy on the Alvechurch village society and we feel truly honoured to be a part of it. I know that none of us will forget the bravery that we witnessed on the day of Operation Teddy Bear, he brought the village together in the most incredible way and, just days after an operation, continued to place the teddies down with a smile on his face.

By doing this, we also wanted to honour the memory of my nanny Christine who also suffered from a cancerous brain tumour and lost her battle in 2002. We carry her in our hearts every day and we will always cherish the memories that we have of her.

But, we can't do this alone, we need the help of as many of you as possible. Whether you decide to join us and take part yourself, or want to donate some money to this worthy cause- anything you give is appreciated. We hope that our attempts will ensure that less and less families have to experience the heartbreak of losing someone to this terrible disease.
