Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

On the 21st September I will be cycling over 300 miles from London to Paris in memory of Mathew Cousins.

A little about Mat...

Mathew sadly lost his battle with cancer aged just 29 on the 25th April 2011 and after being diagnosed as terminal with just weeks left on the 28th March 2011 he was taken into Sir Michael Sobell House Hospice in Oxford. Mathew recieved the absolute best care 24hrs a day in the few weeks he was there so please read the below information regarding this amazing charity that relies solely on charitable donations and voluntary workers.

Mat completed the London to Brighton cycle ride 5 times and in 2008 and 2009 we completed it together with a few friends so thinking of something to do in his memory wasn't hard and yes I realise Brighton is not nearly as far as Paris but what's a challenge if not challenging. Mat actually laughed when I told him what I was planning but after the laughter stopped he admitted that he had complete faith in me but was sad he couldn't take part himself.

A little about the Charity...

Sir Michael Sobell House in Oxford is an adult specialist palliative care service for people with a life threatening illness. There multi-professional team is supported by volunteers.

Sir Michael Sobell House was built as the result of a personal donation from Sir Michael Sobell, a public appeal and a contribution from the Department of Health. It opened in 1976 and is named after its benefactor.

The unit opened with 12 beds and was the second palliative care unit to be built in conjunction with the National Society for Cancer Relief (now called Macmillan Cancer Relief).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Mathew fought his disease until the very end and he never once came close to giving up, so please, please. please dig deep and donate whatever you can now, every pound will help this amazing cause!
