Emily's Great North Run 2019 fundraising page

So you know how much I love cycling, right? I love it. The wind in my hair, the feeling of freedom and the sense of achievement at the end of a ride. But, long days in the saddle are hard work, they hurt my feet, my bum and my shoulders, and they take me days to recover from. And this September, I won't have days to recover, I'll be riding three long days, back to back from London to Newcastle and for me, this is a big challenge all of its own.
BUT (and it's a big but), the story doesn't end there...because on day four of this mad adventure, I will be running the Great North Run. You know how much I love cycling? Well, I reckon I hate running in equal measure. I'm slow, it's tough, there's no freewheeling and no way to rest. But I'm taking part in the Great North Run because I want to do some good, and support the MS Society so that they can help people who really need it.
Because whatever discomfort I'm going to feel is nothing compared to the daily struggle MS sufferers face and if my pain and exhaustion can help those people, and their families, to live a happier and more comfortable life, then that has to be worth the effort.
