As many will know I am Group Leader of HCPT Group 171 and I am going to attempt the 2099 Percy Pud 10kM race on Sunday 6th December. The money raised will go towards group funds for the upcoming trip to Lourdes in April 2010.
HCPT 171 a group of volunteers that each year takes 10 or more children with disabilities or social or emotional needs on a holiday to Lourdes in . This is a holiday of a lifetime for the children and a chance for respite for their families or carers. The children travel in small groups with dedicated volunteer carers and volunteer nurses and doctors. The holiday includes trips to the seaside, café visits, donkey rides, games and parties.
The cost of taking one child to Lourdes is £710, and the money is raised through a variety of fundraising events, appeals and collections as well as some private donations from charitable trusts, schools, churches and companies. The cost of myself and the helpers of the group to go on the trip is over £600 per person.
