Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity. The past few years of my life has had some pretty severe low points and one of those was to find myself in an abusive and violent relationship.

Being a strong woman, it was something that I never expected would happen to me and yet it did. It was horrible and it messed me up big time and there were times when I feared for my life.  I stayed in that relationship for 3 years and please don’t offer me the words of “why didn’t you just leave”, because it doesn’t work like that. Abusers have a way of breaking you down until you are a shadow of your former self with no self-worth and no hope for the future and what’s more, is that it can happen to anyone. I won’t go into all the ins and outs here, perhaps further down the line I might share a little but that is now by the by.

What is important is that I am now a year out of that relationship and my entire life has completely changed. I am becoming once more, the strong and confident woman who I used to be and some! I’m also happy to say that I am now in a very healthy,  loving and respectful relationship.  Now it is time for me to give a little bit back and to show other women who are now, where I once was, that there is hope. I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2016 for the charity Refuge, for women and children against domestic violence. I aim to raise at least £2000 for the charity which will help provide community outreach, refuges and independent advocacy to vulnerable families.

So once more, I am starting my training from scratch and running for a cause that is very close to my heart.  There is life after abuse, my story is proof of that and I hope that you will all join in and support me to help raise awareness and to help other women and families who deserve a break from abuse.

Love and Hugs, Emma xxx
