Story
Completing a 33 mile cycle challenge in Essex on a Sunday morning perhaps isn’t challenging enough when compared to the day-to-day affects of living with a traumatic or acquired brain injury. I know this first hand as my Dad is a traumatic brain injury survivor following an accident at home in February 2010.
Every Wednesday my Dad attends a day service at the Headway Centre run by Headway Essex. This helps him, and others, to rebuild their lives after brain injury through the rehabilitation activities they provide. Their service benefits my mum too, as my Dad’s full-time carer, providing her with some well deserved and essential respite.
Headway Essex does an amazing job supporting people living with the effects of brain injury and provides a vital service to both the survivor and their families. We as a family are very grateful for the continued recovery my dad has made since attending the day centre. I hope you can support me with my challenge that will benefit people with permanent brain damage.
