Dear Friends,

My dream for many years has been to run the London Marathon and 2010 is going to be my year! Mad?, some say! Excited? Very! I wish it could be under different circumstances but hey, at least I'm running! Talking of running, has anyone seen that crazy woman running around Petts Wood with the double buggy??

There is so much I could say about what happend to me last year but to be honest I find it hard to put into words.  In short, after emergency spinal surgery last year (whilst 6 months pregnant with Emilia), I have been left with Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES), which is a form of spinal nerve damage and this is why I have decided to run for the Spinal Injuries Association.

What is CES? Up until my operation I had never heard of it either! I found the following website helped me and my family understand the effects of this awful syndrome and in order to raise awareness of CES, I am asking that you please check it out http://www.caudaequina.org/definition.html

So now you can see how lucky I am to still be able to walk let alone run, and, running I have been. Along with my sister Sammi, I have joined my local running group, Petts Wood Runners. We meet a couple of times a week running around Petts Wood and beyond and have regular 5k time trials, stamina training and of course there is the Petts Wood 10k. I am planning on entering at least one half marathon and a couple more races before the big day. You can check out my times on their website http://www.pettswoodrunners.co.uk/.  The hill and stamina training is a bit of a killer but I'm loving it and of course, I can now eat as many chocolate bars as I like without feeling guilty! Our dustman look at lot happier lately too as the bottle box seems considerably lighter!!

Once I get they hang of "blogging" I hope to keep you all updated.....

Okay, so 6 months on and i still haven't managed to "blog" but here are a couple of fantastic (even if i do say so myself) results for you:

Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon (28 Feb 2010) - 1hr 45.48

Hastings Half Marathon (21 March 2010) - 1hr 43.19

The next result will be the big one!! I hope to see you all there at the finish line and I thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Run Happy!

Emma "Forest" Doyle x
