I didn't realise how tough it would be to get my running fitness back after having a year off from running! I am pleased to report, however, that I will be lacing up my trainers along with the JET running team and thousands of other nervous runners to do the GNR again this year. I am back up to running 2-3 times a week, steadily clocking up the mileage and determined to get as close to 2hrs as possible!

I am particularly proud to be back running as I'll be joined by Nathan (18) one of our Blue Skies graduates. Considered a trouble maker at school his mother told him that he would end up either 'as the next Richard Branson or in prison'. As a result of JET's three year programme Nathan went from becoming a disruptive pupil to head of house. Now a student at college in King's Lynn, after completing his three year business studies course Nathan says his aim is to gain an apprenticeship in accountancy. In a recent interview with the RAF News Nathan said - 'At school I was quite hard to control as I had ADHD, I was put forward to take part in the programme and I really wanted to do it. It involved going to my local station RAF Marham and taking part in various exercises like team building. It improved my self- confidence and belief in myself and helped me to become more focused...I would really recommend the programme to anyone - you learn so much about yourself and it encourages you to push yourself and do better'. 

The Jon Egging Trust (JET) means a great deal to me. JET also means a great deal to all our dedicated staff and volunteers and most importantly to all the young people we support. I am really proud to say that 6 years after founding JET we now have a team of 25 dedicated and skilled staff, 600 talented volunteers and last year we inspired and helped improve the lives of 7,000 young people across the UK though our Blue Skies and Inspirational Outreach programmes.
