These days it's rare to meet someone who's life hasn't been touched by cancer, whether it be knowing someone who is fighting now or knowing someone who has sadly lost their battle. 

My wonderful grandma  and godmother each lost their fight to breast cancer after years of trying to overcome the disease. They were the unlucky ones, however with the support of charities such as Breast Cancer Care I believe that the money invested into research can help more and more people survive and life a long and healthy life. 

As some of you may know, my good friend Lisa is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. It is Lisa that motivates me to do the GNR and raise not only much needed funds for charity, but to also raise awareness of the disease.

One thing I have learnt since Lisa's diagnosis is that cancer does not discriminate. It doesn't care how old you, if you are fit and healthy or if you have young children. This could literally happen to anyone which is why we need to be vigilant, we must check our breasts regularly and if something doesn't feel right, get it checked out! Trust your instincts! 

Seeing Lisa cope with this so bravely spurs me on, she is quite literally my inspiration but more importantly, she is a survivor!
