Story

Hello, Hello, Hello and welcome to my JustGiving Page! As you can probably guess I’m very excited about what lies ahead of me in September 2016. What lies ahead? Ah well, I will be crossing the high Peruvian andes in search of Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Inca. The trek route departs from the bustling colonial mountain town of Cusco and continues through sacred mountains, mountain passes and on through jungle trails to finally reach…the ruins of Machu Picchu.

So firstly before I begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m Emma and I am a first year student, currently studying Management at Warwick University. I’m a keen netball player (always have been) and I love to meet new people and get involved in everything I possibly can (hence this trip!). So why am I trekking in Peru I hear you cry? Well, let me tell you. It all started on the 21st of October in a small room whereby the notorious RAG (Raising & Giving) society led by Warwick students encouraged myself to become an active fundraiser and volunteer. And so here it begins… my first step into the big wide world of fundraising- scary right? Well I think so. Especially with a whopping target of £2,990 in aid of the ‘Make a Wish’ Charity. But with the help of my creativity, commitment, Warwick RAG and my fellow flatmates I am certain we can even go above AND beyond this monetary target.

For those who haven’t heard of ‘Make A Wish’ , it is a charity run by volunteers who help fundraise money for terminally ill children to help their wildest dreams become reality: ‘Because a child’s life shouldn’t be about illness, hospitals and diagnosis – it should be about wonder, joy and hope’.

I never dreamt I’d be doing this, but I know that trekking abroad and large-scale fundraising is something I’ve always wanted to pursue- so why not do both, right? Please help DONATE to this wonderful wonderful cause and help support me in the first steps of my amazing adventure (if you pardon the pun). It’s almost hard to imagine that in 11 months time my story will be complete- this is just the beginning.

Thank you for reading and I hope I’ve inspired you to get involved in something you never thought you would.
