I have a confirmed place in the April 17th 2011 Virgin London Marathon running for SCOPE – a charity which specialises in supporting both children and adults with cerebral Palsy.

I am running this race as part of a team with my friend Lauren and the reasons behind being crazy and wanting to run a marathon are first and foremost SCOPE is an amazing charity which does so much work to help both children and adults with cerebral palsy enabling them to lead a full and active life. The charity also does fantastic work with families of those with cerebral palsy. Especially in the case of first diagnosis with babies and infants.

However my more personal reason for running is that I suffered from ME/Chronic Fatigue syndrome for 7 years and it was only earlier this year that I got myself in a position where my condition was managed as such that I now feel I can lead a normal life. ME/CFS is a chronic, fluctuating illness which affects many parts of the body, such as the nervous and immune systems. The most common symptoms are severe fatigue or exhaustion, problems with memory and concentration and muscle pain. There is no known cure for it however, with some expert assistance I now feel in control of my condition and am leading life to the max – following receiving training on how to manage my condition, I was told to make myself a goal, something which I couldn’t have achieved before because of my condition, so not one to embark on a small challenge I decided I would run the London Marathon a whole gruelling 26.2 miles – so for me this is a very personal journey and one I have never done before but one I will achieve and one which I began training for earlier this year. This will be a life changing experience
