The Lullaby Trust exists to keep babies safe and to keep grieving families supported. We fund life-saving research, empower families with expert baby safety advice and support grieving families through their darkest days. We won’t give up until no baby dies suddenly or unexpectedly.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On April 26th 2000, my beautiful and perfect first born baby Maisy died unexpectedly and suddenly in the night.  She was just 10 weeks old. Maisy had died of sudden infant death syndrome – or cot death.

I have been closely involved with the Foundation for Sudden Infant Death since Maisy died.    Cot death is still the biggest killer of babies over one month old in the UK today, claiming more lives than road traffic accidents, leukaemia and meningitis put together.  FSID has succeeded in reducing occurrences of cot death by 65%, and estimates that 19,000 baby's lives have been saved since the charity was formed 30 years ago.  Whilst that is a breathtaking statistic - more research needs to be done and funds need to be found.  This morning, somewhere in the UK a family has woken up to find their baby has died.

Maisy’s life and death changed my life immeasurably.   I am lucky enough to have gone on to have 3 wonderful children but nothing will ever replace her.  She will always be my first born child.  My beautiful little girl.  I am grateful for every hour of the 10 weeks we shared. She made me the mother I am now. And she taught me how to appreciate every moment of every day.

Thank you so very much for sponsoring me.
