Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon · 12 September 2010

Live Life Give Life aims to raise awareness of organ donation and encourage people to register as organ donors. We educate via campaigns and events, also funding initiatives to improve the welfare of (and outcome for) patients awaiting transplants, whilst also supporting their families.

Story

On September 12th myself and Matt will be running the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon.

We're hoping to raise money for a fantastic charity - Live Life Then Give Life (further details below).  As some of you will know, my fantastic dad Peter needed a liver transplant over 11 years ago.  He sadly lost his battle shortly after the operation but was a true fighter to the end.  By raising money we're hoping we can help make a difference for families who are going through similar situations, and raise awareness of the need for organ donars.

I hope you can support us in our challenge, every little helps.

Live Life Then Give Life Mission Statement

To save and improve the lives of all those in need or receipt of organ and tissue transplants. The charity exists to improve education and awareness of organ donation and to fund projects that increase the numbers of successful transplants in the UK.

Each year, 1000 people in the UK die awaiting an organ transplant due to the desperate shortage of organ donors. More than 9000 seriously ill people are currently waiting for an organ transplant to save or radically improve their lives, and many more require tissue transplants.

Organ donation affects us all because we are each more likely to need a transplant than to ever donate an organ. The charity is committed to saving the lives of all those in need of organ and tissue transplants — now and in the future.
