Forth Bridge Walk for Stella · 20 February 2010

The 2Simple Trust helps families of children suffering from neuroblastoma. Help is given by the provision of financial assistance for treatment and other needs as well as the funding of research into the disease. This work will shortly be transferred to a new charity set up specifically for the purpose and called The Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance.

*********************************************

A very good friend of Neil’s has a 2-year old daughter, Stella, who has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare and very serious cancerous condition. In short, she has been given a 20% chance of survival. There is treatment that could potentially improve the likelihood of survival to 80%, but as usual, this costs a lot of money.

The treatment is in the United States and costs at least £250,000. This is a serious amount of cash that can't just be raised through simple donations. Already fund-raising activities are underway through a charity called the 2 Simple Trust, but it is going to take some serious efforts to get anywhere near the sums of money required.

The good news is that the 2 Simple Trust have loaned our friend money for the deposit on the treatment, and Stella has flown out to the USA to start it. However, to enable Stella to have the treatment for the full 6 months required, more money needs to be raised to refund the loan and fund the rest of the treatment.

Here are the website addresses they have set up:

and also:

We owe it to Neil's friend and his family to try and raise as much money as quickly as possible to help their cause, which is why we have planned this sponsored walk across the Forth Road Bridge.

The date we have pencilled in for the walk is Saturday 20th February, weather permitting. If the weather is bad that day and walkers aren’t allowed on the bridge we will walk on the next weekend day that has good weather.

Please can you sponsor us as much as you can comfortably afford. Every donation, large or small, will make a difference.
