Story

Hi Everyone!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page :)

My names Emma, I’m 20 and am a student living in Bristol.

For the majority of my life I have always had long hair and I could not imagine not having the healthy hair I have. I especially could not imagine not having ANY hair growing up...

The reason I have decided to make this drastic gesture was because I had a dream that my sister had cancer and her hair began falling out. It tore our family apart, and she felt like she was the source of the problem. I felt so helpless, watching her go through that and not being able to help. To see her lose her hair and knowing that she would never have hair again was difficult because it acknowledged what was going on. Nothing was the same anymore. When I woke up I was so relieved that this wasn’t my reality but it dawned on me that it is someone else’s that they have they live with everyday. For young people especially, feeling accepted is the most important thing in growing up. That’s when I asked myself, why I need hair when some people don’t have a choice!?

This is why on October 1st 2011 at 1pm in Bristol City Centre (Harbourside fountains / Hippodrome) I will be shaving ALL of my hair off and donating my hair and the money raised to The Little Princess Trust.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment.

So please dig deep and donate now and help all those beautiful children get some of that self-confidence they deserve :)

Also, keep your ears peeled on BBC Bristol at 10am for my interview with Dr. Phil Hammond on Saturday's surgery! :)
