The Libra Foundation takes UK students out to Romania to work with mentally, physically and developmentally delayed children. Libra provides resources and experiences to Romanian children that cannot otherwise be afforded by their carers or parents.

Story

Hi everyone,

My name's Emma and I'm in my first year of college. This Summer I'm travelling to Comanesti, Romania, to volunteer with the charity, Libra.

While I'm there, I will be working with disadvantaged and disabled children and young adults between the ages of 4 and 25. The aim is to improve their quality of life, and  promote Libra's objectives of communication, integration and culture sharing through fun and educational activites.

I am funding my travel to Romania independently, so the £300 that I hope to raise will go directly to the project and the children. This money will help fund the children's travel to and from the centre, pay for their lunches, and provide arts and crafts materials, and sports equipment, amongst other things.

This project is very important to all the disadvantaged children that it helps, and plays a significant role in aiding Romania's post-Soviet recovery. I'm really looking forward to getting involved, and in March I will be completing a duathlon (10k run, 20k cycle). Please do sponsor me and donate what you can do this very worthwhile cause.

If you have any questions, then check out LIBRA's official website: http://www.librafoundation.org.uk/
or email me: emmawells98@gmail.com

Thank you!!!
