Matthew's Friends provide information and support for children and adults using Ketogenic Dietary Therapies for epilepsy, Glut1DS, and other neurological disorders.

Story

"I DO IT BECAUSE HE CAN'T"

That is what I say when people ask why I am doing the Brighton Marathon and that is what I tell myself when I am out running at 7am on a Saturday morning when it is -8 outside and there is thick frost on the ground.

Matthew can no longer walk because of the brain damage caused by epilepsy. The children and adults that the Matthew's Friends charity help and represent can not do a marathon because of epilepsy. If you are one of those that think you can take a pill and epilepsy will go away - then please THINK AGAIN. Epilepsy can kill, medication does NOT always work. Over 600,000 people have epilepsy in the UK and at least 30% of those will have drug resistant epilepsy and will need to look for other types of treatment - Matthew's Friends offers that chance by way of Ketogenic Dietary Therapies. The same diet that saved Matthew's life and inspired his charity that now works all around the world.

Our wonderful charity Patron, Celebrity Chef Tony Tobin will be doing this one with me followed by the London Marathon the following week (mad fool!) - so please help us keep on with our vital work. Please don't expect a rapid time from me - I just want to finish it!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
