There are many worthy reasons for our decision to raise money in support of Blythe House. It is located in Chapel en le frith and is our local hospice that offers free, individualised, holistic care and support for anyone in the High Peak living with cancer or other serious, life threatening illness. I am sure that many local people may know someone who has attended Blythe House, or may do so in the future, and see the enormous benefits that are gained. Clients are welcomed at Blythe House as guests and a range of day care, home-based, group or individual services are available for them, their carers, family and friends. The dedicated, hard working, caring and supportive team of specialist doctors, nurses, complementary therapists, counsellors and volunteers offer practical help and advice and explore new ways of coping, to enable people to live their lives to the full through an often difficult and stressful time.
Our Mum, Sue Wood, visited Blythe House at least once a week for what she referred to as her “pork out and pamper day” that she found most beneficial and relaxing. Mum also formed many friendships with other guests and staff of Blythe house and found comfort and reassurance in being able to talk to others in similar situations.
Blythe House hospice receives less than half its costs from the local Primary Care Trust. The rest - ideally £1000 per day must be found through fundraising, legacies and charitable donations. Therefore we would like to ask if you would kindly join us to help in achieving to raise as much money as we can in supporting this worthy cause.

Why Anglesey
The Reason why my brother Chris and I have chosen to walk 125 miles around the coast of Anglesey, in 8 days and to continue in raising funds for Blythe House stems back to our childhood. For many years we had a caravan on the Island and would spend most school holidays and any other given opportunities there. We have so many special and happy memories of spending time there with our Mum, thus allowing the walk to rekindle many more for us. It was one of our Mums favourite places and in cards that she wrote to us, for us to find shortly after she had died she said that the first place she was going to soar over would be Anglesey. Therefore we duly scattered her ashes on the old lifeboat launch beach at Moelfre, a beach that Mum particularly liked. All making Anglesey a very special place to us.

A Massive Thank You! We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored us for our walk around Anglesey. We completed the 125 miles in 8 days. It was tough at times but enjoyable and rewarding at the same time. We rekindled many precious memories during our walk of the times we spent on the Island with our Mum. To date we have raised over £1000 for Blythe House Hospice. An admirable amount that is all thanks to your kind and generous support and donations for such a worthy cause. THANK YOU! from Em and Chris Wood and all at Goyt Wines.
