<p>&nbsp;Emma is running the Ignis Asset Management Women's 10k on May 8th to raise money to alleviate destitution amongst asylum seekers in Glasgow.<br />&nbsp;<br />The number of destitute asylum seekers is rising. There are probably several thousand in Glasgow, most &ldquo;sofa-surfing&rdquo; between friends, some sleeping on the streets.&nbsp; These are people who have been unable to prove their cases but cannot be sent back to their own country because it is recognised that it would be unsafe to do so.&nbsp; They come from countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Zimbabwe.&nbsp; They are not entitled to any form of support: no housing, no benefits and no right to work.&nbsp; They are not even entitled to homeless services.&nbsp; Their lives are on hold, often for many years frequently leading to severe depression and in some cases, malnutrition.&nbsp; Women are particularly vulnerable to exploitation.</p> <p>Please give if you can so that we can make their lives more bearable.</p> <p>Many thanks</p> <p>Emma</p>
