END TO END 2010

Click for the Team Peak blog

Inevitably, when you get a group of blokes discussing what challenges they would like to achieve in their lives the conversation will  arrive at the Lands End John O'Groats trip, AKA LeJog.

Equally inevitably are the different ways people will approach any given challenge.  We believe we have approached this in an equally innovative manor and can sum our endeavour up with a very suitable tag line; Two Teams, Two Challenges, One Reason.

In July 2010 two teams will leave Lands End on bicycles, The Speed Team and the Peak Team.  The Speed Team will do the LeJog route in a cramp-inducing 6 days.  The Peak team will tackle a very similar route, but stopping by and climbing each of the three peaks in 10 days.

The Reason; Last year, a group of friends cycled from Rugby to Paris.  Two of the members of this group have had close members of their family suffer from cancer, so naturally the ride raised money for the cancer charity Macmillan Nurses.  To continue to support cancer charities this year we have agreed to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Speed Team;  On July 26th 2010 Keith Smithers, Simon Mitchell and Craig McKee are going to set off from Lands End, covering around 1,000 miles, and arrive at John O'Groats 6 days later.  This will mean we need to cover an average of 160 miles per day.

Peak Team; On the same date, Andy Walker and Sonny Winston will set off from Lands End, hoping to cover the LeJog route, and climb the 3 Peaks in the process.  Some days will involve climbs and then a nice quick 70 miles in the saddle.

We know there are lots of these events raising money around at the moment, but for very good reason!  We have personally seen loved ones survive for much longer than expected using newly developed cancer drugs, the likes of which would probably not exist if it was not for generous people like yourselves.  Even a little does make a difference, and your help is always appreciated more that you could know.
