What’s End2End?
End2End is a cycling relay from John O'Groats to Land's End. “Lovely: a scenic fortnight’s cycling”, we hear you think. But not so fast, or rather, not so slow! End2End completes the 1,600km from north to south in just 3 days. Riding in 5 teams, each rider will spend 1.5 hours on the bike, then 4.5 hours in the van, before getting back in the saddle – no stops, no beds, no hot meals!
Riding in End2End are Rich Thomas, Werner Gey van Pittius, Rich O'Connor, Ross Leibbrandt, Dave Croudace, Kerry-Ann Marais, Nic Marshall, Charlie Edwards, Rhodes Kent and Matt Marshall.
Because why?
Because we like a challenge. Because we’re busy people who’ve used all our leave and want to make the most of the August Bank Holiday. Because a bike like the one in the fourth photo only costs £35 and can help local volunteers reach vulnerable children in remote areas of Africa.
Why HOPEHIV?
It’s extremely difficult for one person to cycle the length of in 3 days on their own. But in the End2End relay, if everyone does their bit and we work together with the right mindset, we know we’ll make it.
HOPEHIV applies the same philosophy to working to change ’s future. With 13 million children orphaned by AIDS, it seems an impossible feat. Yet by helping vulnerable young people to realise their potential, a change in one child can multiply into change in a family, a community, a country and a continent. HOPEHIV's projects help them to:
- overcome the loss of their parents and help others do the same
- go to school
- teach their peers about HIV and child rights
- learn a skilled trade or start a small business
