I grew up in a house which welcomed them for a meeting once a month to discuss problems, worries, and generally to support one another in a world where unfortunately breast feeding is not the norm. As a young child I overheard my mum tell someone that she had breast fed (or provided breast milk for, I’m not sure) a total of 5 children. I was happily shocked because there are only 3 children in my family, and I very vaguely remember an adoptive mother picking up breast milk from our house.

Now that I’m a mum myself, I happily followed in my mother’s footsteps in donating milk to babies in need. I have donated after having both my children, and the experience has been overwhelmingly rewarding- so rewarding in fact; I wanted to become more involved in helping to promote milk banking. Therefore, here I am, a novice, but able to draw on my experience as a donor to help spread the word on the value of breast milk for babies. I also draw on my experience in business to embrace the role of UKAMB’s treasurer. I am very blessed to be able to take part in this worthy cause.
