Story
Hello all and thank-you for taking the time to visit our page,
Some of you may be aware that I am Taylan's uncle and Steve is a very close friend to me who has known Taylan's parents for over 10 years. Steve and I have taken on the challenge to ride 57 miles from London to Cambridge on the 24th July 2011.
Why are we raising money for Brain Tumour Research...
On the 19th of August 2009, Taylan passed away at the age of 7. He had been diagnosed with a very rare and inoperable brain tumour just 10 months prior. As you can imagine this was a great loss to all of us.
Taylan's parents, Andy and Figen have founded Taylan's Project www.taylansproject.com and are now fundraising for www.braintumourresearch.org to raise awareness and much needed funds. In the UK more children and people under the age of 40 die of a brain tumour than any other cancer however research into brain tumours receives less than 1% of the national spend on cancer research.
Taylan was such a special boy with the biggest smile that lifted you every time you saw him. He is sadly missed but never forgotten.
Love you Taylan!
Did you know that....
· * 16,000 people each year in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour
· * 20% of all cancers now spread to the brain
· * Primary tumours cannot be prevented because their cause is unknown
