Please support the Belfairs and Daws Heath Appeal

URGENT: Please help Essex Wildlife Trust raise the LAST £50,000 to complete the Belfairs and Daws Heath Appeal

Essex Wildlife Trust has been given a fantastic opportunity to work on the Belfairs and Daws Heath Living Landscape. We have just received the fantastic news that the Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded £855,000 to the Belfairs Woodland Centre and to our work in the Living Landscape.

We have now raised £1.85 million from various grants and donations: a fantastic achievement. Now we need to raise the final £50,000 in cash to match the grants and enable us to build the Woodland Centre and carry out important improvements for the benefit of wildlife and local people.

The Belfairs Woodland Centre will be a focal point in the Living Landscape and will enable many people to appreciate the unique woodland and the special wildlife of Belfairs and Daws Heath. The Centre will help people have access to the landscape, enjoy its heritage and have the opportunity to be involved in its future.

Some of the woodland is more than 1,000 years old – the earliest woodland recorded in Essex. Oak, Hornbeam, Sweet Chestnut and Wild Service trees provide important habitat to a great variety of wild plants and animals, such as Wood Anemone and Bluebell, the declining Dormouse, the great songster the Song Thrush and the rare Heath Fritillary Butterfly.

The Centre will offer an exciting events programme for adults and children, refreshments, a shop and an education/community room. People will have the opportunity to take part in wildlife surveying, identification courses and practical work parties and to enjoy heritage trails and wildlife and history walks. An Essex Wildlife Trust education officer will be based on the site and will lead important outdoor learning opportunities with schools and families.

Please help us complete this exciting project. We need to raise the last £50,000 in cash to match the grants.

Every £20 you donate will release £740 towards the Belfairs and Daws Heath Appeal.

Everyone who donates to the Appeal will receive an invitation to a special guided walk in Belfairs Park.

WE ARE NEARLY THERE…BUT WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT NOW, TO BRING THIS SPECIAL PROJECT TO FRUITION.

A big thank you in anticipation of your support.
