Adidas Women's Challenge London 2009 · 6 September 2009 ·

Depaul UK is a national homelessness charity with a focus on young people. On a mission to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it, Depaul UK offers safe and supported accommodation, homelessness prevention initiatives, and programmes of support that lead to a brighter future.

Story

I'm running for the second time for Depaul UK this year, with the adidas womens challenge. Last year I ran the British 10K, and thoroughly enjoyed the race itself and the purpose I was running for. So this year I wanted to help raise money again, but this time, with a difference. I thought doing it in costume, would not only be fun, but would help raise more recognition for Depaul which is a fairly small chairty and could do with the extra funding and support. So I guess thats where you come in!

I'm running as Little Red Ridding Hood (firstly because it's one of the only costumes I had at short notice), but mainly because it's a good metaphor for young people being lost and lonley in the 'woods', and trying to avoid temptations of the big bad wolf.

Depaul UK work with young homeless people lost from their path. Imagine being out on the streets or in prison with no where to go when your released. Imagine managing to find somewhere to live but then having no prospects because you left school at 14 wit no qualifications. Depaul UK helps young people in this situations and more, over 3,000 of them every year.

Any donation you can make large or small WILL make a massive difference. Even a couple of quid could help change a young persons life so please make whatever donation you can. Thank you.
